Upchurch Society

The Upchurch Society is a community of generous individuals who make a monthly investment in the next generation. Named in honor of long-time Path United monthly donor Justin Upchurch—who lives out radical generosity each day—this society fuels the mission of Path United to help kids living in mobile home communities become flourishing adults. When you become a monthly donor, you're not just giving—you're building a legacy.

In 2008, I recall Jim telling me how he and Melinda had visited Gwinnett Estates to deliver Christmas gifts that their small group had collected. Before leaving Gwinnett Estates they were asked to come back and visit, and from there they never stopped going back. This was the beginning of Path United as we know it now. I wanted to actively partner and volunteer with Path because I believed in their vision, mission and purpose (I still do!) They were, and are, actively changing lives for the better in the ‘here and now’. However, my time was already spread thin. I was working full-time while also in school finishing my degrees. My wife, Suzanne, was about to start working full-time, and our three children were active in school and sports. So, after talking with Suzanne, we agreed that we’d partner with Path financially. We started giving $25 per month because that’s about all we could afford, and over time we’ve been able to increase our monthly giving. I still haven’t been able to physically volunteer or just write a check for $50k (although I’d like to), but by donating monthly, I feel like I’m partnering with Path United regularly, and in some small way helping to make a difference in the lives of the communities they serve.
